Camilla starting to crawl!

8 months old and Camilla’s waving, scooting, and this weekend started getting on all 4’s and starting to little crawling steps. As you can tell from the videos, Olivia is very sweet with little sis and very helpful in trying to help her in her travels 😍

Dancing queen

Olivias first ever dance class. She was such a super star, listening intently and following each song.  The best part was she partnered with a shy girl and was encouraging her to join in. Heart of gold this little one 💛💛💛

6 month, 2.5 year, 35 year old mega blog post

I’m going to have to make this as punchy as possible in order to actually get it finished before my 36th birthday. This is the rundown of the latest news from the 6 month old Camilla, 2 1/2 year old Olivia, and me who’s just celebrated my 35th birthday.

OK, age before beauty. Here it goes. A few of the highs and lows. I:

  • Find fisher price little people in my boots
  • Find socks in the microwave (we don’t have a dryer)
  • Find keys in the fridge
  • Do about 50% of things one handed (while holding a baby in one arm)
  • Look a bit like a homeless yoga instructor most days
  • Survive on 3-4 hour chunks of sleep
  • Can actually feel the tingle of oxytocin (love hormone) coursing through my body when I’m breastfeeding
  • Feel upwellings of frustrations like I’ve never felt before (thanks to a contentious terrific two year old and in particular if there’s a screaming baby side dish)
  • Would spend every minute with my babies if I could
  • Am thankful for Tracey and family day care
  • Am more in love with my husband after he became a daddy
  • Have jet lag and a twitchy eye
  • Have to work at confident patience and keeping a sense of humour
  • Try to appreciate the small things
  • Am in love with holding sleeping babies
  • Have found a new appreciation for tea parties, dance parties, and staycations
  • Am a better human being knowing that I’m a role model to my two gorgeous girls

Camilla:

  • Is called Booey, Booey Dooey, Booey Dooey Hummy Gungy  (nicknames courtesy of Olivia), Baby Doo, Muffin, Happiness
  • Rolls over, sits up, does mini push ups, and has started scooting backwards and getting up on all 4’s starting to practice moving around
  • At 5 months said “mama” – especially when she’s tired, but I’ll take it! sounds more like mmmmmmmmama mmmmmmama
  • On Mother’s Day at 6.5 months started saying ‘dada’ 🙂
  • In the right mood chatters in an amazing stream of consciousness babbleogue
  • Has slept through the night a few times but most nights wakes at about 10.30, 1 and 5 (bedtime at 7)
  • Turned 6 months on the day of Nanas funeral
  • Got her first tooth the next day (plus horrible nappy rash)
  • Responds well to the cuddle test – to see if she’s tired, I pick her up and if she’ll put her head down on my shoulder I know she’s ready for a nap ❤

Olivia Loves:

  • Her little sister – sometimes a bit too boisterously but usually does come from a well meaning place
  • Taking clothes off dollies and animals
  • Fairies and “unitorns”
  • Eating with big spoons/forks
  • Feeding her sister (on her terms only of course – not when mummy wants me to)
  • Anything Frozen / Elsa / Anna
  • Dinosaurs, Tigers, and “elphelants”
  • Butter
  • Opening the fridge door and seeing what’s in there (i seem to remember doing this as a teenager)
  • Putting on Bandaids
  • Cutting with scissors
  • Snacking. When it doubt, snack it out.
  • Helping me cook dinner – wearing an apron, chopping mushrooms, peeling onions
  • Making beds for animals and dolls and putting them to sleep.
  • Helping daddy at Surf School. I asked her how many rashies she put out and very honestly said “two” (big help)
  • Changing preferences on a daily basis

Olivese:

“Now?” pretty much anything we talk about with a timeframe she answers with “now?” ie: Tomorrow we’re going to see Viva and Sophie at playgroup. “Now?”

“What are you looking at?” when she busts me staring off into space in a sleep deprived vortex
